We’re Lori & Victoria.

Together, we started The Smith-Stauder Team of Carolina One Real Estate in and around Charleston, South Carolina.

Prior to getting into real estate, we met teaching together at James Island Middle School. Lori taught reading intervention, while Victoria taught special education resource classes. One day, to save time, our principal combined our data review meetings since we each taught smaller groups. It was in that meeting we realized how well we worked together, and that together we’re unstoppable. We teamed up to plan when teaching often, and when we decided it was time for a career change, there was never a question that we’d be working as a team to help people in some way. We found real estate, and realized we could use our education backgrounds to help people through one of the most emotional and overwhelming purchase or sales experiences of their lives. We work together as a team to make sure you’re well taken care of every step of the way. Now, we’re top producers with our brokerage and leaders of an amazing small team, and our favorite part is helping families like yours make their dreams come true, and we’re here every step of the way to help break it down for you and let you know what’s coming next. Get started by connecting with us today!

Lori smith-stauder.

Lori grew up on the border of Pennsylvania and Maryland. She graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!) with her degree in education. She taught in Columbia for a few years but realized that if she was going to be in the South, she needed to be at the beach. So, she moved in Charleston and began teaching at James Island Middle School and got her masters degree. She had several titles over the years in the school district, including reading interventionist and literacy coach. A lot of her job consisted of looking at and analyzing data, which is actually what got her thinking about real estate in the first place. She loves focusing on listing houses, because it’s all data analysis and a numbers game. That’s why we call her ListWithLori! If you love data and spreadsheets, Lori’s your girl.

Victoria fell in love with Charleston when looking at colleges in high school. She flew back down from her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts to visit when it was decision time, and announced on the campus tour that College of Charleston was the one! She just loved being close to the water and beaches, and living in a town with so much history reminded her of home. While attending the “College of Knowledge” she studied Special Education and dance. Upon graduating, she began teaching as a resource teacher for students with exceptional needs at James Island Middle School. It was there that she met Lori, and their plan developed to go into real estate and use their teaching backgrounds in a new way. Actually, both Victoria’s parents are realtors back in MA, so Victoria always jokes she was born and bred to be a realtor (she even had a crib in their office!) While she always swore she’d never get into real estate, she loves what she does now. She uses her teaching background to really break down the bigger concepts into bite sized chunks that make it easier for buyers and sellers to digest when making one of the most stressful decisions of their lifetime. Her favorite things to do outside of work include cooking or trying our new restaurants around town, walking on the many beaches, and snuggling up with her three rescue fur babies (a princess chihuahua, a diabetic cat, and a naughty bunny rabbit!) and a good book.
